About Art

Lakota Tribe's hero's from the Cloud Clan; Red Cloud.
Subject matter for Ms. Cherry is primarily California. California’s amazing diversity of people, terrain and colors keep her inspired. Her art has been called impressionistic, surrealistic, spiritual, and contemporary, which is why she calls herself “A California Artist”. She says living in California is like living in Technicolor, her paintings reflect that excitement and are valued for their intensity.
Working in watercolor, oil and mixed media she finds changing from one media to another challenging and stimulating. Patricia feels the result of this method keeps her in a constant learning mode. That learning mode creates freshness and excitement in her everyday painting experience.
Each rich and emotionally dramatic painting by Patricia is a collection of unexpected color texture, light, shadow and form. A prolific painter, painting California Landscapes, Abstracts, Florals, Still Life and Portraits
This ongoing work is occasionally interrupted with inspirations for paintings such as her series paintings. Notable among the series paintings are: “The Children Are Watching”, “Red Cloud” .
“Rising” is a series inspired by Bruce Springsteens CD “The Rising” . After 9/11 she found comfort in his CD and has completed a painting for many of the cuts on that album.
“Inspiration is everywhere”— Patricia Cherry
